10 Last Minute DIY Halloween Costumes

While some women have their Halloween costumes picked out by the second week of September, I have never been the sort to plan far ahead. I’m a leave it to the last minute person and let me just say that Amazon prime has been very helpful. I have never been a sexy cat kind of girl or sexy corn, sexy lobster or sexy carrot for that matter. If you want to dress up and enjoy the festivities but don’t want to have to resort to wearing a dress with a bite taken out of it, these last-minute costumes ideas are for you. They’re all bad-ass women whose outfits can be complied from your own wardrobe or a few simple purchases.

Wednesday is the only daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams from the much loved fictional Addams Family that has appeared in cartoons, TV, film and even a Broadway musical. Morose and never smiling, Wednesday Addams is queen of resting bitch face. Wear a white button up shirt under a black dress (or black sweater and skirt), black tights, and black shoes. Put your hair in two braids, don’t smile all night, and you’re a perfect Wednesday Addams.

Rosie the Riveter is a cultural icon that represents the American women that went to work in factories during WWII. To complete this outfit all you need is a pair of jeans, a blue or denim button up shirt and a red bandana. Tie the bandana around your head with the knot sitting on your hairline. Roll up the sleeves of your shirt, flex your arm and walk around looking tough as nails.

Baggy high-waisted khakis, white button up shirt, blue tie, black vest, black felt hat, oxfords and a straw tote are all you need. Considering many of these item are still on trendy, almost forty years later, I’d say Annie Hall is a timeless fashion icon.

Frida Kahlo is one of the most famous Mexican painters who’s surrealist paintings and self-portraits are not only a huge part of Mexican art history but have also become popular images today, recreated on bags, postcards, posters and other items. Frida wore traditional and ornate Mexican clothing which might be hard to come by. Her look can be re-created by simply wearing a long skirt, colorful shawl, flowers in pinned up braids and a heavily  penciled in brow.
