The band has toured frequently with The Reverend Horton Heat and they opened for Robert Plant for his 2005 European tour.

It’s a nice circumstance when your Tuesday night house band is freaking Rebirth. Formed in 1983, Rebirth have since won a Grammy, been featured on HBO’s Treme, and headlined festival stages all over the world. Catch one of the hottest brass bands in the world every Tuesday night at the Maple Leaf.

Thursday, December 11

Dave Chappelle

Saenger Theatre // 7:30pm and 10pm

It was a glorious day when Dave Chappelle returned from his self-imposed exile from the public eye and came back to comedy performance. The highly intelligent, biting comedian takes the stage at the beautiful Saenger Theatre tonight for two performances. Another show was added for Friday, as well. Anyone got a +1?

Friday, December 12

Quintron and Miss Pussycat w/Vockah Redu, Circuit Desyeaux, Bitchin Bahas, and DJ Rotten Milk

Siberia // 9pm

This bill is a mouthful but the lineup is tight with Drag City instrumentalists Bitchin Bajas and bounce artist Vockah Redu welcoming local heroes Quintron and Miss Pussycat back home from their Midwestern tour. The variety of artistry onstage tonight is impressive!

Saturday, December 13

Krewedelusion Fundraiser

Den of Muses // 9pm // $8

Krewedelusion is one of the more fun and unique krewes in the city. The come one, come all structure of the krewe means that it’s far more eclectic than most. Tonight, they gather for a fundraiser for Roots of Music and Women with a Vision. DJ T-Roy, Gris Gris Strut, and Damion Neville perform. There’s also a silent auction.

Sunday, December 14

Fleur de Tease Presents: The Nutcracker

One Eyed Jacks // 8pm and 10:30pm

This is the second performance of this not-for-kids version of the Nutcracker, led by Trixie Minx’s Fleur de Tease burlesque, comedy, and general amusement troupe. In it, a young Clara discovers a whole new world of holiday treats… via burlesque.

Alex Clare

House of Blues // 7:30pm

Good Sunday night options tonight! Alex Clare hit it big a couple years ago with “Too Close” and tonight he’s in town to perform this and other songs at the House of Blues. Dubstep went mainstream with this one.
