How to Boil Crawfish

That’s right – we here at Red Beans and Life don’t just write about our favorite bar crawls. We also produce helpful how-to videos on the important things in life.

Our first video will give you insight into a New Orleans staple: the crawfish boil.

Here are the steps, in case the video goes a little too fast for you to be taking notes.

Step One: Gather the ingredients. And beer.

  • Crawfish boil – both liquid and powder
  • Sausage
  • Corn
  • Celery
  • Bell peppers
  • Oranges
  • Lemons
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Whatever else you want to experiment with
  • Propane gas tank
  • And of course, crawfish

Step 2: Purge the Crawfish

A little salt never hurts

Step 3: Start the Fire and start cooking veggies

Good things take time. The fixens are no different.

Step 4: Cook for 3 minutes, cool for 20-30

The longer they sit the more they soak up all that spice.

Step 5: Enjoy!

It’s every man for themselves. I don’t care if it is Breesus himself, if you’re next to me during a crawfish boil, you’re gonna have to fight for every crawfish.

About Patrick

As a born and bred New Orleanian, on a good day you will find him eating oysters and/or crawfish at the Fly, and on a bad day you might find him in jail.
