New Orleans Concert Preview: September 1-7

MONDAY
CLYDE & IGGY
Monday is relatively quiet thanks to the holiday. But if you don’t have a barbecue to get to, check out these locals down at Checkpoint Charlie’s.
Checkpoint Charlie’s. 501 Esplanade Ave. 7 p.m.

TUESDAY
NIK TURNER’S HAWKWIND, HEDERSLEBEN, WITCH MOUNTAIN, MOUNTAIN OF WIZARD

The week kicks off officially with some serious headspace-combing psych rawk courtesy of Hawkwind. You won’t need to do anything illegal to enjoy these vets, but it can’t hurt.
Siberia. 2227 St. Claude Ave. 9 p.m. Buy Tickets.

WEDNESDAY
ATLANTIC THRILLS, TRAMPOLINE TEAM, RAVI SHAVI, NATIVE AMERICA

Keep the throwback vibes going with a night of raucous garage punk including NOLA’s favorite sons Trampoline Team. Don’t get too caught up in the tunes, though. These bands are known to get more than a little rowdy,
Saturn Bar. 3067 St. Claude Ave. 9 p.m.

THURSDAY
JAZZ IN THE PARK

Though it’s still unbearably hot outside, September (in theory) means cooler weather is on the way. With that in mind, Jazz In The Park bands venture away from their air conditioners and back out into the world. Check out Kermit Ruffins at Jazz in the Park last year, looks like a damn good time, does it not? Catch To Be Continued Brass Band and the Shannon Powell Band the first show since spring.

Louis Armstrong Park. Free. 4 p.m.

FRIDAY
ROYAL TEETH

There’s a lot of good music this Friday. Bipolaroid is playing Circle Bar. Mr. Elevator & the Brain Hotel are at Siberia again. Royal Teeth gets the nod for writing the greatest wordless chorus of this millennium.
Freret Street Publiq House. 4528 Freret St. 9 p.m.

SATURDAY
TY SEGALL(w/ WAND, BABES)

It’s been three days since you experienced some seriously heady guitar. Ty Segall is fresh off a new album release and looking to fix that.
One Eyed Jacks. 615 Toulouse St. Doors at 9. Buy tickets.

SUNDAY
KRISTINA MORALES & THE BAYOU STOMPERS

Let’s close out the weekend the way we began it: with something breezy and close to home.
